Many of us have received a word from the Lord through a prophecy or when He speaks
to us directly through dreams, visions, or His Word. When this happens, hope stirs in
our hearts, and our spirit quickens with a witness, yet too often, we don’t see the
manifestation of His spoken word as quickly as we would like. Abraham, Joshua,
Joseph, and David (to name a few) also received promises and words from God
regarding their destinies and lives. For all these men, the manifestation of the promise
took years. The potential and power were in the promise the moment it was given, but
God required man to partner with Him to bring the word to fruition and fulfillment.
When we receive a word or a promise, we need to partner with Holy Spirit to bring it to
pass. He will do what He says—but often, what He has said has an element of our
cooperation tied to it. He wants to do it, but He won’t if we don’t cooperate. If we don’t
partner with Him, our destiny will be delayed.
God promised the world a Savior, but He still needed Mary’s “Yes” to bring it to pass.
Don’t give up on the Lord. Don’t abort the dream too quickly or prematurely. If He has
said it, He will do it. He is not a man, and He does not lie. But He needs your “Yes” and
partnership to bring it to pass. Let’s look at a few promises from the Scriptures:
Numbers 23:19
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He
said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (NASB).
Isaiah 55:11
“So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty,
without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I
sent it” (NASB).
Isaiah 46:11
“Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it”
(NASB).
Psalm 37:5
“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it” (NASB).
Hebrews 4:2
“For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they
heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard” (NASB).
Jeremiah 1:12
“Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to
perform it” (NASB).
When you receive a word, it can be compared to conceiving a baby. Gestation takes time. Have faith and walk out the term with Holy Spirit. You can’t see the baby but
you have faith the baby is there and growing.
Another example would be if my parents promised me money. They can get it to me by
Zelle, and I would have it instantly, or they could transfer it through accounts, and I
would have it in a few hours. They could wire it, and I would receive it in a couple of
days, or they can mail me a check, and I will get it whenever the Post Office comes
through! Or, if I visit them, they could just give me cash. No matter how the money is
transmitted or when it is released and when I receive it, if they promised me money, I
know they will get it to me. They are willing, able, and true with their words. In the same
way, so is God the Father. When He speaks, He is willing, able, and true to His words.
Pray without ceasing and give Him no rest until the word He promised comes to pass.
Always pray in the Spirit as it will edify you. Declare and decree the promise you have
received. Ask Him what steps of faith and obedience He requires of you to see this word
come to pass and continue to repeat the decrees and declarations until it is done.
Be encouraged today: if God said it, He will do it.
